Republican Women’s Caucus Statement on Congressman Edwards' Letter Refuting Ethics Censure

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican Women’s Caucus Chair Kat Cammack (FL-03) today released the following statement:

"The Republican Women’s Caucus has spent months working to strengthen workplace protections, accountability, and standards of conduct in Congress. Congressman Edwards’ 22-page letter only reinforces why that work is necessary.

"Congressman Edwards has every right to challenge the Ethics Committee’s findings and defend himself. Evidence and due process matter.

"22 pages of explanation do not change a fundamental fact: Members of Congress hold extraordinary power over their staff. With that power comes a responsibility to exercise sound judgment and maintain appropriate boundaries.

"What is troubling is how much of this letter is spent defending individual interactions—and how little is spent grappling with why the pattern of conduct raised serious concerns in the first place.

"Intent matters. So do judgment, boundaries, and accountability."
